Hello!

My name is Reimar Wen Shen. I’m German-Singaporean and currently live in Portugal, where I teach meditation and help run a dance and embodiment community.

Before this, I studied economics and finance and worked in investment management at Vanguard. Looking back, it feels like an unlikely path. Yet I think that background still shapes the way I teach. I enjoy building frameworks and trying to make meditation as practical and understandable as possible.

I’ve been practising Vipassanā for over a decade and teaching since 2021. My path has taken me through many Goenka retreats, four months of monastic training at Wat Sopharam in Northern Thailand with Ajahn Puttar, and more recently into contemporary non-dual approaches through Michael Taft.

Alongside meditation, I’ve spent many years immersed in Contact Improvisation, artistic and nature-based communities, martial arts and somatic practice. Increasingly, these worlds have begun to come together in both my own practice and my teaching.

Perhaps my greatest teacher today is my young son. Parenthood has challenged almost everything I thought I understood about practice, bringing insight out of the meditation hall and into ordinary life.

More than anything, I love practising, researching and sharing this path with others. Everything in this guide reflects my current understanding rather than any final truth. Like the practice itself, I’m sure it will continue to evolve.

I hope our paths cross one day
