Vipassana Meditation

Weekend Silent Retreat

Quinta Ten Chi,
Sintra near Lisbon, Portugal

January 23 - 25, 2026

This spontaneous weekend silent retreat is an invitation to step out of daily momentum and return to steady, embodied practice.

Held at my home and community meditation & movement centre near Sintra, the retreat takes place in a quiet, natural setting that supports stillness, continuity, and simplicity. We also hosted our first Vipassana & Embodiment retreat here just over a year ago.

The retreat begins on Friday afternoon (Jan 23) and ends on Sunday afternoon (Jan 25). It will be held mostly in silence. Each day includes periods of sitting and walking meditation from early morning until evening, with time for rest and time in nature.

Teachings will focus on my approach to Vipassana meditation:

  • calming and settling the body–mind

  • investigating body–mind phenomena

  • resting into embodied awareness

The emphasis is on steady practice rather than intensity — creating conditions to practice continuously, clearly, and with care.

This weekend is suited for practitioners who feel called to silence, simplicity, and deepening their relationship to practice, supported by nature and a small group setting.

reimar wen shen

Reimar is a meditation teacher, dancer and new father based in Sintra, Portugal.

His journey with meditation began during his studies at Melbourne University, Australia, where he discovered Vipassana to transform his relationship to stress, anxiety, and a lifelong struggle with eczema.

Experiencing profound benefits early on, he committed to a daily practice and intensive silent retreats in the tradition of S.N. Goenka—while working full-time at Vanguard Investments.

During COVID, Reimar moved to Thailand to deepen his meditation practice and discovered the Ajahn Tong-style Mahasi method. At the same time, he immersed himself in embodied arts such as Contact Improvisation, OceanDance, Butoh and Aikido.

He trained for four months under teacher, Ajahn Puttar, at Wat Sopharam monastery in Northern Thailand and has cumulatively spent over 30 weeks in intensive silent retreat.

His approach to Meditation is characterised by his Embodiment practice, living in Community, and closeness with Nature. Integrating the spiritual with the human, the primal, and grounded in daily work.

Believing in sharing a balanced and fully integrated approach to meditation and life, he founded vipassanathome.org in 2021.

The retreat Vipassana & Embodiment was such a rich nourishment for my soul.

The teachers were kind, open, vulnerable, truly present with us and that created a space of trust to dive deep in a soft way.

Everything became meditation, every moment a practice of loving awareness and curiosity and my sense is that energy field emerged from the integrity and devotion to the work of the facilitators.

In the end it was like many windows were open to refresh my inner world, calming loving light entering in the chambers of my being.

Thank you so so much Reimar, Francisco and Sandra.
